Basketball Northern Ireland is excited to announce a new opportunity to join our team through the JobStart Scheme. We are recruiting a\u00a0Marketing and Events Assistant<\/strong>\u00a0to support the promotion and delivery of our basketball events, programmes, and community initiatives across Northern Ireland.<\/p>\n

This is a fantastic entry-level opportunity for someone passionate about sport, marketing, and community engagement to gain hands-on experience within a dynamic sporting organisation.<\/p>\n

About the Role<\/h3>\n

The Marketing and Events Assistant will play a key supporting role in the planning, promotion, and delivery of Basketball NI activities. This includes supporting events linked to our leagues, Team NI international squads, and community programmes.<\/p>\n

The successful candidate will gain practical experience across digital marketing, content creation, event coordination, and sports development.<\/p>\n

Key Responsibilities<\/h3>\n
    \n
  • Supporting the promotion of Basketball NI events and programmes<\/li>\n
  • Assisting with the design of digital and print marketing materials (posters, graphics, etc.)<\/li>\n
  • Updating the Basketball NI website with news, events, and programme information<\/li>\n
  • Helping to create and schedule social media content across platforms<\/li>\n
  • Assisting with event delivery, including set-up, registration, and on-the-day coordination<\/li>\n
  • Capturing photos, videos, and participant feedback to support marketing and reporting<\/li>\n
  • Maintaining accurate attendance and engagement records<\/li>\n
  • Supporting general administrative tasks such as responding to emails and updating databases<\/li>\n
  • Working closely with staff and volunteers to ensure smooth event delivery<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Skills & Experience<\/h3>\n

    Essential:<\/strong>
    \n\u2714 Good written and verbal communication skills
    \n\u2714 Basic knowledge of social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok)
    \n\u2714 Confidence using digital tools to create and share content
    \n\u2714 Basic IT skills (email, documents, data entry)
    \n\u2714 Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
    \n\u2714 Willingness to be hands-on with event set-up and delivery
    \n\u2714 Availability to work weekends when required<\/p>\n

    Desirable:<\/strong>
    \n\u2795 Experience with design tools (Canva, Adobe Express, Photoshop, etc.)
    \n\u2795 Basic photography or videography skills
    \n\u2795 Experience updating websites (e.g., WordPress)
    \n\u2795 Understanding of branding and event promotion
    \n\u2795 Experience supporting events, sports programmes, or community initiatives<\/p>\n
